Every animal has a unique personality—playful, independent, cuddly, cautious, or somewhere in between. I take the time to learn what makes them comfortable and happy, respecting their individual personalities and preferences.
Their familiar home, daily routines, and little rituals are all part of what makes them feel secure. My role is to preserve those comforts while providing companionship, attention, and plenty to enjoy each day.
Long walks, playtime, quiet companionship, or simply being nearby—whatever they prefer, I take my cues from them.
I focus on attentive, loving care so you can enjoy your time away, knowing they’re in good hands.
What makes a good day?
A few of the ways I like to keep pets happy, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away.
FOR YOUR DOG
Neighborhood, coastal or bluff walks
A favorite park or off-leash outing, when appropriate
An LJ Beach, Fiesta Island or Ocean Beach Dog Beach
Ball chasing, toys and yard games
Another outing later in the day
Plenty of company in between
If a Chuckit comes out, I’m probably having as much fun as your dog is.
FOR YOUR CAT
A sunny window or favorite sleeping spot
Conversation while I make tea
Playtime when the mood strikes
Brushing or petting when invited
Following me from room to room—or pretending not to
Curling up nearby while I work
Being left peacefully alone when that’s clearly the preference
I have enormous respect for cats’ autonomy. I don’t believe affection counts as affection if the cat didn’t ask for it.
Other companions, too.
Dogs and cats are where I have the most experience, but they’re hardly the only animals I’ve cared for. My life has also included chickens, reptiles, goats, sheep and donkeys, and I’m happy to talk about birds and small companions and see whether we’re a good fit.
Every stay starts with a conversation.
Before confirming a stay, we’ll meet in your home so I can meet your animals, learn their routines and make sure it feels like a good fit for everyone.
